Middle School
Curriculum
The middle school provides a curriculum that is relevant, challenging, integrative and exploratory for middle school age students. It includes year round core subject courses such as Bible, English, math, science, and social studies as well as exploratory courses such as industrial arts, art, computer, home economics, music, and language, all of which are designed to advance the skills and knowledge to help students explore these disciplines.
Communication
All middle school students have homework planners; sixth and seventh grade parents are asked to sign them daily. By eighth grade, students do not need to get parent signatures, as we expect them to be more responsible. Teachers and parents may write communication in this planner as well. Major due dates of assignments and grades are online for parents to view. The online grades have detailed information regarding each assessment. A monthly newsletter from the principal helps parents stay connected to what is going on in the middle school. Parent-teacher conferences are held once a year in November, student-led onferences in February. Each middle school student has an e-mail address through which teachers can easily communicate with students. Teachers are also encouraged to communicate with parents using e-mail.
