HS boys' cross country participates in coed relay with ISSH

The high school boys' cross country team participated in the Asia Pacific Invitational coed relay with fellow Kanto Plains school ISSH on Saturday morning. The Knights' performance wasn't official because they were competing with another school's girls, but they would've placed third out of 14 teams.

In the race, the boy and girl in each pairing both ran two legs that totaled approximately 5.6 miles, much of which came on the sandy Tumon Beach. CAJ's five scoring pairings with ISSH placed seventh, 16th, 26th, 34th and 37th out of 90 total pairings. The Knights and Symbas had 120 points (again, unofficially) to edge out JFK, which had 127 points.

"The guys performed very well with ISSH as their relay partners," coach Nate Rudd said. "Running on the sand really sucks the energy out of you, but they did very well even so. With the help of ISSH, and great performances by their runners, we would have placed third in the race if we were able to be counted as official."

The next meet for all of CAJ's cross country runners will be next Saturday at the Kanto Plains League Finals at Tama Hills.
