HS wrestling competes in Day 2 of Far East Tournament

The CAJ high school wrestling team competed in Day 2 of the Far East Wrestling Tournament at Osan Air Base in South Korea on Friday.

Joe (115 pounds) and SungWon (180 pounds) both wrapped up the individual tournament in the morning by placing fifth and fourth, respectively, in their weight classes. Joe won his fifth-place match and SungWon lost his third-place match.

In the afternoon, CAJ had two dual matches to start the dual meet tournament. The Knights lost 55-8 to Osan and beat Daegu 15-9.

The Knights went into their Osan matchup with a sure loss due to a lack of wrestlers, but coach Morris Yaegashi said the team did very well. Yaegashi said highlight in that matchup was Tai giving Osan's 141-pound wrestler a tough match.

Against Daegu, both the Knights and Warriors had many unfilled weight classes and had to shuffle around the lineups a bit to get any matchups at all. Fortunately, Tai won his matchup, and CAJ had fewer forfeits which led to a Knights victory.

Below are the individual tournament results for the high school:
115- Joe wins fifth-place match
180- SungWon loses third-place match, finishes fourth

These were the dual meet tournament results:
Versus Osan-
115- Joe wins by fall
135- Amon loses by fall
141- Tai loses by fall
180- SungWon wins by decision

CAJ forfeited nine weight classes against Osan.

Versus Daegu-
115- Joe wins by forfeit
135- Amon loses by technical fall
148- Tai wins by fall
180- SungWon wins by forfeit

On Saturday, CAJ will wrap up the dual meet tournament and its season as a whole.
