Girls' tennis sweeps Zama 5-0

The girls' tennis team only had to play two singles matches, but the Knights were able to beat Zama 5-0 on Saturday. The Trojans did not have players in the 3rd singles, 1st doubles or 2nd doubles spots.

Kaitlyn defeated her 1st singles opponent 8-5, and Hanna defeated her 2nd singles opponent 8-4.

Coach Ushio Sawada had plenty of thoughts on the two contested matches:

"Unfortunately, we had to play ASIJ first, and they were a very good team. I think both of the girls wanted to make sure, since the [Zama players] were a little more in their league, that they would win. I think the pressure kind of got to both of them at the beginning, but it was good to see them come back and finish them both.

Kaitlyn needs to be a little bit more aggressive. When somebody gives the ball back to her, she needs to think about finishing the point nicely. With Hanna, it's the same thing. She started out finishing points well, but she kind of got scared. She needs to keep her confidence throughout the whole game."

The girls will play at home against Seisen next Wednesday to make up their September 21 scheduled matchup.
