HS boys' cross country places fourth at Kanto Finals

The boys' cross country team placed fourth out of 10 total teams and fourth out of eight Kanto teams at the Kanto Plains Finals at Tama Hills on Saturday.

CAJ had placed fifth in Kanto during its league schedule, but it was able to leapfrog St. Mary's to place fourth on Saturday on the 4.4-kilometer course. The top five runners for the Knights were Jordan (16:02.5, 8th out of 65 varsity runners), Hayato (16:12.6, 13th), Ken (17:04.1, 27th), Stephen (17:26.6, 32nd) and Koh-William (17:31.9, 34th).

The performances from Jordan and Hayato earned Kanto All-Star recognition, which goes to the league's top 15 runners. Hayato's Kanto placing was actually 12th, since one visiting runner from St. Paul in Guam finished ahead of him. Full results from the meet can be found

"I’m thrilled to have Jordan and Hayato repeat their All-Star status [from the past two years]," Coach Nate Rudd said. "Ken’s race was also very exciting and him finishing third for us was a big help."

Rudd is also excited for next year, even with seniors Jordan and Stephen graduating. "We have a lot of good guys returning," he added.

For the middle school race, GyungWon continued an excellent season with a personal-best time of 14:20.4 on the 3.3-kilometer course. He placed 40th out of 123 middle school runners.

This was the final meet of the season for the Knights. On Monday afternoon at 3:45, the team will host the annual Fun Run at CAJ.
