HS boys' tennis defeats Yokota 5-0

The high school boys' tennis team began its season at home on Tuesday with a 5-0 win against Yokota.

Despite having no returning varsity players from last season, the very young Knights team was still able to win all three of its contested, official matches. Hugo (10th grade) and Shun won at first and second singles, respectively, and Joel and Peter won at first doubles. CAJ won the other two matches by forfeit. Junu and Minoru were also able to get in exhibition singles matches.

Coach Koji Yamabe said the Knights did a good job in their wins taking advantage of the home omni courts by sliding for quick and smooth movements. Yamabe expressed regret that Hugo (9th grade) and Abhirupan could not finish their match due to lightning, but he said they "made themselves useful to the team by taking pictures for the Matsu and filling up water for their teammates in need."

These are the full scores from Tuesday:

1st Singles- Hugo (10th grade) wins 8-3
2nd Singles- Shun wins 8-1
3rd Singles- CAJ wins by forfeit
1st Doubles- Joel and Peter win 8-2
2nd Doubles- CAJ wins by forfeit

CAJ's boys' tennis team will attend a JV Tennis Jamboree at ASIJ on Saturday.
