Boys' and girls' tennis teams complete away matches against St. Mary's and Seisen

The CAJ boys' and girls' varsity tennis teams competed at St. Mary's and Seisen, respectively, on Wednesday night. The boys' match ended in a draw due to darkness, but the team was leading 2-1 on individual matches before the event was called. The girls lost 5-0.

Coach Ushio Sawada gave a couple positive thoughts on the matches:

"One of the highlights for the boys was our freshman, Shuntaro [at 2nd doubles]. He hung in there really well and was competitive. It was nice to see him holding his own with the big kids.

On the girls' side, the 1st singles player for Seisen is the No. 1 player in the whole league. She's as good as the high-ranked boys. Kaitlyn had to play her, and she got smashed last year. Score-wise, she got smashed this year as well, but she was able to hang with her and get a few points.

And Hanna was able to get three games. Her opponent was quite strong, so that was another highlight."

Below are all the scores from the individual matches on Wednesday:

1st Singles- Kitt wins 7-5, 6-2
2nd Singles- Kaito wins 7-6, 6-0
3rd Singles- Joe draws 6-2, 2-6 (match called due to darkness)
1st Doubles- Eugene and Kento draw 6-4, 3-1 (match called due to darkness)
2nd Doubles- Hikaru and Shuntaro lose 4-6, 2-6

1st Singles- Kaitlyn loses 0-8
2nd Singles- Hanna loses 3-8
3rd Singles- Kiara loses 0-8
1st Doubles- Jenny and JaeEun lose 1-8
2nd Doubles- Sophie and JiWoo lose 0-8

The girls' team's next match is this Thursday at home against ISSH. The boys have a JV match scheduled for Friday and both varsity teams will play matches at Yokota next Tuesday.
