The JV girls' basketball team also played at ASIJ on Tuesday. With just six players available to the Mustangs' 10, CAJ ran out of gas in the second half and let ASIJ run away with a 38-14 win.
Just a week and a half earlier, the Knights had beaten the Mustangs at home 26-22. However, CAJ couldn't match the effort level and offensive execution from the previous game. ASIJ also clearly increased its intensity.
"We could’ve had more energy,” Jessica said. "We should also work on making faster passes so the defense can’t cover us so easily."
Coach Jared Johnson noticed that fatigue was a big factor, especially as the Mustangs increased their lead from 14 to 24 in the fourth quarter.
"I don’t think this game was as lopsided as the score indicated," Johnson said. "To ASIJ’s credit, they made some tough shots, but we also missed lots of fast break chances. We need to work on finishing layups in transition."
CAJ had just three players score. Raven had six points, while Nana and Jessica both had four points.
The Knights' record this season is now 8-5. They will play next Thursday at Seisen.
