Varsity girls' basketball team loses against Zama

The high school varsity girls' basketball teams lost a close game against Zama on Tuesday night by a score of 57-52.

Zama came into the game undefeated this season (not counting forfeited games), but CAJ stayed a few points ahead of the Trojans for most of the game. The Knights' shooting went cold in the fourth quarter, and unfortunately, Zama's top player totaled 35 points and stayed hot throughout the game.

"It was the best game we played all year," coach Craig Eby said. "Even at the end when we lost the lead, we had good shot selection and just couldn't finish."

Eby added CAJ stayed under control throughout the game and passed the ball extremely well, especially in transition.

CAJ had key performances from Mari (18 points, 12 rebounds), Anna (13 points, 11 rebounds), Rachel (12 points), Mitsuki (seven points, six rebounds, six assists) and Jessica (eight rebounds, four assists, four steals).

Varsity's overall season record is now 15-5, and its league record is 9-3. The Knights will finish league play on Saturday with a home game against ASIJ.
