Honey (or Currant) Scones

Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp margarine
4 Tbsp wheat germ
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp sesame seeds
2 Tbsp honey
1 cup yogurt OR 3/4 to 1 cup sour milk

Directions
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in margarine. Stir in wheat germ, sugar and seasame seeds. Pour in honey and yogurt. Knead dough lightly until you can roll it out or pat it into shape. Cut with round cutter or into pie shaped pieces. Sprinkle top wtih seasame seeds, if desired. Bake on greased cooking sheet at 425 ̊F for 10-15 minutes.

  • preparation time: 30-40 minutes
  • urrant variation: add 1/2 tsp soda and 1 Tbsp sugar to the first group of ingredients. Increase butter to 1/4 cup.
  • Substitute 1/2 cup currants or raisins for the wheat germ, brown sugar, seasame seeds, and honey.
