Ingredients
3 cups sugar
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts
4 beaten eggs
1 (# 303) can pumpkin
1 cup Wesson oil
2/3 cup water

Directions
Sift dry ingredients together to mix well. Add other ingredients. Blend well. Pour into large tube pan (greased and floured) or 2 small loaf pans (greased and floured). Bake at 350 ̊F for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

  • makes: 2 small loaves
  • Great for gifts; also freezes well.
  • Barb Duhrkoop's variation adds 1/2 tsp ginger and 2 cups raisins.
  • You can substitute one cup of whole wheat flour for one of the cups of flour.
