Next year's fall play

Next year's HS fall play will be a modernized version of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Come try out for Scrooge and lots of other fun parts in this classic tale! It's time to return HS textbooks

You've read that "Parting is such sweet sorrow," but it is in fact time to part from some companions: your textbooks. Seniors should turn in all textbooks by Friday, June 1. Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 should turn in all textbooks by Friday, June 8. Clean out your lockers and return your textbooks to the bin on the third floor, next to the Book Room.

Begging for Books and Bags

All library books currently checked out are due on June 1. Summer checkouts begin on June 4... and every student may check out up to 25 books each over the summer. So... we need BAGS! Please return all BOOKS and drop off your BAGS by June 1.

Matsu distribution

The Matsu will be handed out on Monday, May 28. Please bring your ticket to the atrium after school on the 28th to collect your Matsu. If you have yet to purchase it, you can still do so in the Business Office.

Music Department award applications due Mon.

Music Department award applications are due Monday, May 28, at 4:00 p.m. You may drop them in the basket in the Academic Office or give them to Mr. Ponzani.

NYU info session at St. Mary's

NYU will have an info session at St. Mary's on May 31 (Thur), 6:30-8pm. It will cover information about NYU and admissions "case studies" to give a picture of how admissions works. Register here.

Sign up now for PTA's Scripture Memory Program

Sign up now for PTA's Summer Scripture Memory Program! Students entering grades 4 through 12 can earn up to 10,000 yen during the summer by memorizing Bible verses – James 1-5. You can choose to do the whole section or only part of the section. You can sign up now by e-mailing with "Scripture Memory" as the subject and your name and grade next year in the body of the email.

Library materials due June 1

All library materials are due on Friday, June 1. All overdue fines should be paid by then as well. Summer checkouts begin on Monday, June 4.

Library summer days

Summer checkouts at the library begin on Monday, June 4. The library will be open on Monday, June 18 and 25 and on Monday, July 2. This year our hours are from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00.

Handbell Ensemble auditions! Come play with us!

Join CAJ’s high school Handbell Ensemble for the opportunity to make beautiful music and have fun with shiny, bronze toys! Auditions are Thursday, June 7, at 3:45 p.m. in the MPR. No experience is necessary! Ability to read music is required. The first step is to apply online! Contact Mr. Ponzani if you have questions.

Fine arts awards have changed

The fine arts award system has been simplified. Students involved in speech, debate, visual arts, Matsu, Brain Bowl, Maths Field Day, and chapel band will be awarded pins by the coaches of those activities. Only students of music need to submit a form and should download the Music Department award application. Deadline for its return is May 28, 4:00 p.m. More information is on the form.

Jazz Ensemble auditons & open rehearsal

Come and learn the music with the band on 5/21 and 5/24. Get a feel for how rehearsals flow, how to interpret jazz music, and learn two jazz scales to improvise with. Auditions are 5/28 and 5/31. Signup and reserve your time slot now. Open to current 8th-11th graders.

Staff and student prayer night on May 30

Do you like journaling, watercoloring, and/or spending time in prayer? On May 30, from 16:30-18:30 in the MPR, will be a prayer night that includes different stations for you to rest and spend time in prayer. All CAJ staff and students are welcome to join!

Students helping scientific research

Some researchers from the US, Canada, Bahamas, Korea, and Japan want you to help them understand more about science ed. A teacher will give you a survey to take home. By completing the survey and having you and your parents sign a consent form, you will participate in this study. The study is voluntary, and no one at school will see your responses. Thank you

Next year robotics team invitation

Are you one of those students that needs more challenge at school? Are you interested in engineering? Do you work hard? Do you have a drive for learning that goes beyond school work? Then you are invited to join the robotics team next year. Please e-mail Mr. Fujiwara before May 30.
